Let’s assume for one second that the op-ed in the newspaper about a resistance in the Trump Administration is true and that we have appointed officials protecting the country from a president. Now that we have that out of the way, why don’t we ask the real question that no one is asking, how is it that people in the White House have justified to themselves that this is what is best for the country?
At face value, the op-ed lays out that they are being patriots and that they are doing their duty to the country by acting in the manner that they are. They believe that it would be more difficult for the country to oust a sitting president due to mental health reasons and instead find the collateral damage much less to basically deceive and undermine the president to mitigate any damage that a mentally unstable president could cause.
Once again, at face value without any additional thought that logic can make some sense. But I am having a really hard time believing that logic for one important reason. The only way this plan works is if the president has no clue that it is going on. If he knows people are undermining him, then he knows what to look out for and the plan is not effective in any way possible. That is like the CIA coming out and saying we are successfully thwarting our enemy’s leadership because we have secretly infiltrated their government and are giving them disinformation and they have no clue. You just let them know what you are doing and it is not effective anymore. So I am not buying it at all…it makes no sense whatsoever. If you let Trump know that you are doing this and he really in unstable, you just made him more unstable and took away your power to mitigate his actions. Literally, they made the problem worse (i.e. mental instability) and took away the power to manage it.
So what is the logical explanation for it? It could be many things actually. It could be Trump or someone in his inner circle putting it out there as a rally cry that his presidency is under siege from the deep state and any problems or scandals are a setup. It could be one mass distraction from all of the crap that is going on. All very plausible but I think there is one explanation that fits the data better. I think someone used that as a shot across the bow to send Trump a message about what they will come out with if Trump doesn’t get in line with something. I don’t think it is the deep state but rather some one trying to keep Trump in line and this was their way to do it. Who knows…but this is just crazy. We are playing this game of who done it and while we are doing that, not one person is asking ourselves how crazy or embarrassing this has become to our country. Even if its all BS and politics at its worst, we are so much better than this as a country but we just can’t get enough of this drama. Who’s responsibility is it to have a reset on what our government and media has become?
